MN Vikings Youth Camp in IFalls
The MN Vikings came to International Falls on Tuesday, June 26th so they could put on a Youth Football Camp for children (Boys and Girls) ages 6-14. I made a trip over and first got to talk to Emily Weinberg, the Youth and High School Football Coordinator for the Vikings.
I then got to talk to Terry Fawcett, the current LB Coach at Cretin-Derham Hall, who is also a youth coach for the Vikings.
Followed by an interview with some of the younger Youth Program members: Sean Erickson, Mykal Howard, Allan Hernandez, and Pete Bercich Jr
Also in attendance was the Broncos Football Boosters who were having a Garage Sale fundraiser selling vintage jerseys, display helmets, capes, and canvas bags. I talked to Donita Ettestad who was one of the ladies running the table.
As mentioned, Sports Stadium saw a huge turnout of over 100 kids (boys AND girls) show up ready to play some football. Kids like Kingston Jr who told us that this was his favorite part of the camp.
Kingston Jr is gonna be a freshman on the Falls High School Football team who told me what he’s most looking forward to while playing on the Broncos.
And then there was Eryn who said this was his favorite part.
He’s excited to play tackle bar football this upcoming fall because he’s gonna know one of the coaches.
I then talked to 3rd graders Turner and Huxley who said this was their favorite part of camp.
And when asked who their favorite coach was from the camp Huxley had a rather funny answer.
For the record, I think he was talking about Coach Mikey Howard, and I of course had to talk to the parents who were there in attendance.
There’s gonna be a Bronco Elementary football camp here in the Falls at the end of July (29-31) and you can still sign your kid up for it!
