New Childcare Center Will Open in Fosston This Spring

Like Fosston, many communities are experiencing a childcare shortage. Four years ago the city of Fosston decided to create a committee to help with the provider shortage. The committee determined there was a need, researched funding sources and put a budget together to ensure the business would cash flow. On January 1st, 2021 Leah Faudskar donated the Prairie Pet Clinic building for the Childcare Center’s use. Greg Mireault, member of the childcare committee fills us on the background of the childcare center and the process of getting it off the ground.

Mireault stated the next phase was to secure funding which included donations along with a DEED grant which enabled them to finish the upstairs and basement. Staffing and licensing are next on the agenda.
