Ada, MN — Chief Deputy Ben Fall with the Norman County Sheriff’s Office spoke with the media for the first time on Monday afternoon since the passing of Sheriff Jeremy Thornton last Thursday morning. Deputy Fall provided the details surrounding Sheriff Thornton’s diagnosis, how things are being handled in his absence, information regarding the funeral, and more about the type of person and Sheriff he was. Fall says their small department is getting by, but its certainly difficult both emotionally and logistically following the death of Sheriff Thornton.
Standing behind Deputy Fall at the press conference was Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting, Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander, Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halvorson, and Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman, along with Ada Police Chief Steve Hagar and Twin Valley Police Chief Jason Douville. Fall states that in the law enforcement community, everyone stands together to show their support for one another.
The funeral for Sheriff Thornton will take place this Wednesday, January 11th at 3:30pm at the Ada-Borup-West School. He notes that the public should expect a large law enforcement presence, but regular emergency needs will still be provided for the county during that time.
The funeral will also be live streamed online at www.YourLiveEvent.com.
