Norman County Commission Accepts Bond for Highway Department Building
Ada, MN — The Norman County Board of Commissioners awarded the bond for their new Highway Department building at their meeting on Thursday, March 17th. The bond rate that was approved was 3.0559%, which was slightly higher than the original estimates but still low enough for the county to officially move forward with a new 39,000 square foot highway department building to replace their current facility, which is aging and lacks adequate space for county equipment. Last week, the Norman County Commission awarded a $9.875 million bid to Bradbury Stamm Construction, which was contingent on the approval of the bond interest rate.
Bradbury Stamm construction, which is based out of St. Cloud, MN, will begin constructing the new precast building as soon as weather allows this spring. It’s estimated to take a year and a half to complete. The current building will be demolished when construction is done.
The bond is for 30 years and will be paid off using a combination of a countywide half cent sales tax and current state aid funding.
