Norman-Mahnomen Public Health promoting bike safety on Walk & Bike to School Day
It’s National Walk & Bike to School Day, and Norman-Mahnomen Public Health is using the day to promote bike safety for youth of all ages. Kim Myers of Norman-Mahnomen Public Health says helmets are one of the most crucial aspects of bike safety, and she encourages parents to install that in their child’s mind early.
While helmets are important, they’re obsolete if they are not worn properly, so Myers explains the keys to a properly fit helmet.
While it’s important for riders to be following the proper safety precautions, Myers says it’s also important for drivers to stay extra alert when riding at times when bike traffic is common.
Parents with questions about bike helmets can contact their local Public Health office for more information or assistance.
