North Dakota Special Legislative Session sees 14 bills passed
The North Dakota Legislature adjourned on Wednesday after rewriting the budget bill that was struck down by the North Dakota Supreme court who ruled that the bill was unconstitutional for violating a single subject requirement.
In total fourteen bills were passed by the North Dakota Legislature including the $141 million OMB budget, House Bill 1546, which is a law to implement a loan forgiveness program that would help the development of a fertilizer development facility, House Bill 1547, which changes the composition of the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System board, and Resolution 4021, which voices support for Israel and names Hamas as a terrorist group. Bills that paid legislators for the special session were also passed.
Governor Burgum’s tax relief bill that would have seen the first $60,000 of income for single filers and the first $100,000 for married couples be made tax-free was killed during the session and not sent to the Governor’s desk.
