October is Breast Cancer Awareness month
October is breast cancer awareness month, and whether you’re watching a sporting event or out and about you’re bound to see plenty of pink. Breast cancer awareness is the main focus of the month for many health organizations, and they’re always promoting things you can do to catch the disease early. Tammy Carlsrud of Norman-Mahnomen Public Health says the number one thing you can do for early detection is consistent self checks.
Carlsrud sas another way to increase your chances of detecting breast cancer early is to schedule a yearly mammogram.
While breast cancer is not something that’s 100 percent avoidable for some people, Carlsrud says there are things you can do to lower your chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
