Oh Canada: Emo Walleye Classic Champions Dylan Tessier and Jack Judson
On Tuesday, May 28th Emo held their 23rd Annual Walleye Classic fishing tournament where some new champions were crowned. Dylan Tessier(18) and Jack Judson(21) were the duo who won this years tournament and Ed Gackley had the opportunity to interview them.
This years Walleye Classic was unique in how pre-fishing for all the boats went well, but on opening day there were 16 boats that didn’t catch a fish. So Ed asked Dylan and Jack if the rain that came in had any effect.
They were then asked if the other boats were moving around to different spots or staying in place.
Dylan and Jack’s victory at the tournament was a huge come-from-behind win as they had finished day one with 5lbs 81oz, but by the end they totaled at 18lbs 69oz. A big contributor to their win came from a big fish that Dylan had caught.
That was also the biggest fish in the whole tournament, and to think they almost didn’t even catch it.
Dylan is on record saying that the 20in walleye that weighed around 8lbs 20oz was probably the biggest fish he’s ever caught. Maybe even the biggest fish he’ll ever catch! Ed and the duo then go through the top 10 finishes at the tournament.
And while Jack made sure Dylan didn’t give away any big secret, they still obliged to a small bit of what they did in the tournament.
Ed then asks them of any plans to fish in any other tournaments.
So besides fishing, where do they work?
And what is their favorite part about the Rainy Lake area?
Jack Judson makes sure to give special thanks to his mom who let them borrow her boat.
Dylan gives thanks to everyone who went to the tournament.
They also made sure to shoutout their sponsors.
