Polk County Still Busy Dealing with Damaged and Flooded Roads

Fosston, MN — It’s been a few weeks since heavy rains caused the initial flooding in the Red River Valley and authorities in Polk County, which was among the hardest hit, are still dealing with the impacts. Polk County Emergency Manager Jody Beauchane, who joined the KKCQ Food for Thought Program recently, says not only are they still assessing the damage, but there are still dozens of roads that remain closed.

To aid in the recovery process, Beauchane is strongly encouraging local townships and governments to report damage estimates to the county so that they can make a disaster declaration.

Beauchane estimates that there could be anywhere between $500,000 and a $1 million in total damages just to roads in Polk County.
