For the Rainy River Voyageurs Men’s Basketball team, they were at home last night against MN North-Hibbing for an MCAC matchup. After a slow start for the Voyageurs, leading 35-31 at halftime, they’d pull away from their competition to win it 81-67. Rodney Mozard led the way for the Voyageurs with a double-double 17 points and 20 rebounds, and Braedon Gomez led the scoring with 19 points. Another starter would get a double-double alongside Rodney as Samuel Jideofor would put up 15 points and 10 boards. Caleb Thompson and Jaymar Previl would also start and would both score 10 points each to help achieve the win.

Then, I met with Head Coach Collins afterwards to get some of his thoughts about the game.

The Voyageurs are on a 5-game win streak, sitting in first place as they move up to a 9-1 record in conference, and a 16-7 record overall. They’ll next play Central Lakes at home on Saturday at 2pm for what will be the MCAC North Division championship game as CLC holds an 8-1 record in conference.
