Recycling Holiday Lights
CLAY COUNTY, MN—As you’re taking down your Christmas lights, you might be thinking about replacing those lights. Clay County Solid Waste is accepting old holiday lights through January 3 in Barnesville, Dilworth, Glyndon, Hawley, Hitterdal and Ulen. Mara DeRung, the recycling outreach educator at Clay County Solid Waste says there are also drop-off sites for holiday lights open year round.
DeRung talks about how the lights are being recycled.
She says the amount of lights Clay County receives annually is anything but light.
Clay County Solid Waste is accepting holiday lights, electrical cords, phone cords and appliance cords. They will NOT take cord adapters, battery packs or lighted decorations. For more information, call Clay County Solid Waste at 218-299-5016.
