Representative Steve Green Announces Candidacy for State Senate in District 2
Fosston, MN — District 2B Representative Steve Green won’t seek another term in the House, but instead hopes to make the move to the Senate. Representative Green announced Wednesday that he will be campaigning for the new District 2 Senate Seat this fall. Having served District 2B since 2012, the Fosston native initially had plans to step away from politics but saw an opportunity following the recent redistricting to potentially move over to the Senate Chambers.
The new district 2 would more than double his current service area in 2B and include all or parts of Mahnomen, Clearwater, Becker, Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Hubbard, Cass, and Itasca County. When the new district lines came out, a lot of legislators had to decide relatively quick if they want to rerun or retire. Thankfully, Representative Green says not matter which route he would have chosen, he was happy to have the full support of his family.
And Green adds that so far this year’s legislative session has been a very busy one as they not only try to put together a bonding bill, but also address the budget surplus.
Representative Green currently serves on the Legacy Finance, Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy, and Property Tax Division Committees.
