(Minnesota) — Today opens the spring turkey hunting season in Minnesota with opportunities open now through Tuesday, May 31st.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters that the season is divided into six hunt periods, A through F. A spring turkey hunting license will provide hunters the opportunity to hunt all permit areas in the state with the exception of the three wildlife management areas. Permits are also required for firearms turkey hunters ages 18 and older in Mille Lacs, Carlos Avery, or Whitewater WMAs during the A through C seasons.
Firearms hunters ages 18 and older must also choose their hunter period when they purchase a license. All firearms turkey hunters can participate in Hunt f if they have an unused tag from one of the earlier hunt periods.
Archery-only license holders and licensed hunters ages 17 and younger may hunt statewide for the entire season. For more information about turkey hunting in Minnesota, that can be found on the DNR’s website, under the Turkey Hunting page.
