State Senator Kent Eken Won’t Seek Another Term in Legislature
Audubon, MN — After 20 years in the Minnesota Legislature, District 4 State Senator Kent Eken has announced that will not be seeking reelection this fall. Senator Eken was a longtime Twin Valley resident, but recently moved to the Audubon area. With the recent redistricting no longer including his hometown area in District 4, Senator Eken felt now would be a good time to move the world of politics.
Senator Eken says he’s very much looking forward to spending more time with family, getting back into teaching, and no longer having to deal with the attack ads in what will be a contested election this fall.
With just a little over a month to go in his final legislative session, Eken talks about what he’d like to get accomplished before his time in office is over.
State Senator Kent Eken is currently the ranking Minority Member of the Aging and Long Term Care Policy Committee and also serves on the Agriculture and Rural Development Finance and Policy Committee. His District 4 colleague in the House of Representatives, Paul Marquart, also announced earlier this year that he would not be seeking another term after 22 years in the legislature.
