Here’s an update on the storms that moved through the region Thursday. There were no reports of injuries in the region. There were many Wild Rice Electric customers who lost power yesterday, as Wild Rice President and CEO Tommy Houdek explains.
Polk County Chief Deputy Mike Norland tells R&J News the winds were so strong that several boats on Union Lake in Erskine capsized. Norland also says his office has had reports of trees down and big branches down. Norman County Sheriff Ben Fall tells R&J News there haven’t been reports of damage.
To get an idea of how strong these storms were, there was a report six miles northeast of Fertile of an inch and a half of rain in a span of ten minutes. At the Ada Building Center LLC studios, there was .29 of an inch of rain, while Mahnomen had .7 of an inch of rain and Fosston reported 1.37 inches of rain yesterday.
