The Spring Fire Season Is Upon Us

The Spring Fire Season Is Upon Us

April 1, 2022 News News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

The Spring fire season typically begins around the first of April each year, as the snow disappears and the vegetation dries out. Ben Lange from the Minnesota DNR Forestry Office recently joined KKCQ’s Food For Thought program to talk about burning permits and spring fire restrictions.

Lange is expecting a somewhat normal fire season in comparison to the drought conditions that caused the potential for large fires last year.

Lange says be sure to keep checking on piles that were burned previously during the winter as they can reignite and escape.

Lange advises anyone who spots a wildfire to call 911 and report it.
