Twin Valley City Council Appoints New Councilmember
Twin Valley, MN — The Twin Valley City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, March 13th at the Twin Valley Community Center. At the meeting, the council picked up their discussion on appointing a new council member to fill the vacancy. The council had two interested applicants at their special meeting last week, Tracy Christianson and Harold Allrich, but the council was split on who to appoint and unsure of how to move forward. Following consultation with the League of Minnesota Cities and their statutory rules, it was discovered that the Mayor had the ability to make appointments in the event of a tie. On Monday night, Twin Valley Mayor Michael Bolton chose to appoint Christianson at this week’s meeting.
The city council also continued discussion on their proposed poultry ordinance, which would allow residents to have up to six hens in an enclosed area. Taking some public input into consideration, the council approved an amendment to the ordinance that would require consent from adjoining properties, according to Mayor Bolton.
During the Public Works report, the Superintendent reported interest in updating their mapping to a digital format. Bolton says they are going to take a look at their options, but it would greatly assist the city in the long-term to have more accurate data.
The annual citywide clean-up will take place at the end of next month and Mayor Bolton reminds residents to start thinking about spring cleaning once the snow melts.
The Twin Valley City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
