Twin Valley, MN — The Twin Valley City Council held their first regular monthly meeting of the 2023 year on Monday night at the Twin Valley Community Center. As per usual, the council approved all the annual designations and committee appointments with no major changes from the previous year, according to Twin Valley City Clerk Rachel Johnson.

Reelected Councilmembers Michael Bolton and Mike Lampton and Mayor Ben Fall took the oath of office prior to the meeting, but there was some conversation during the night on how to proceed if Mayor Fall, who is also the Chief Deputy of the Norman County Sheriff’s Office, is appointed to the Sheriff position following the passing of Sheriff Jeremy Thornton.

A couple of new ordinances were discussed on Monday night as well. The council did approve some amendments to their new cannabinoid ordinance, specifically reducing the fee for those who hold liquor licenses and eliminating the fee for pharmacists.

And Johnson notes that they hope to have a proposed chicken ordinance ready for council approval at next month’s meeting.

The Twin Valley City Council also approved a resolution to accepted donations of $1000 from the Twin Valley American Legion, $500 from Shock & Awe, and a fire equipment donation from Q3 Contracting.
