Twin Valley City Council News & Notes from November 14th Meeting
Twin Valley, MN — The Twin Valley City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, November 14th where they discussed a new hemp ordinance, public works vehicles, grant awards, and more. With the passage of legislature this pass session in Minnesota that allowed the sale and consumption of hemp-derived THC products, the council moved forward with drafting an ordinance that would put some local restrictions on the relatively vague new state laws. Twin Valley Mayor Ben Fall says they used an ordinance from the city of Fosston that would regulate the cannabinoid products very similar to alcohol.
Under the Public Works report, the council discussed the need to purchase both a new pickup and a plow truck as both are at the end of their life cycle. Mayor Fall says they do have some funds in reserve for those purchases and hope to get some estimates soon.
And with the city recently receiving four new mobile AED units thanks to a grant, Police Chief Jason Douville requested that the old AED units be utilized in the community, which Fall says the council approved.
The Twin Valley City Council also accepted a $2500 matching grant from the Minnesota DNR for equipment, approved donation requests from the Twin Valley Community Boosters, and approved a gambling permit for this weekend’s Moonshiners Snowmobile Club supper.
