Twin Valley City Council Offering Pay Increase to Hold On to Police Department

Twin Valley, MN — The Twin Valley City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night where they spent a great deal of time discussing how to maintain their police department following the resignation of both of their full time law enforcement officers. Both Police Chief Jason Douville and Officer Adam Camp submitted their resignations, however the council tabled Douville’s notice to potentially negotiate a better deal to stay with the department in Twin Valley, according to Mayor Ben Fall.

Mayor Fall notes that the council remains committed to maintaining a full-time police force, but unfortunately that may mean a substantial pay increase to keep up with area departments in this competitive workforce environment.

The Twin Valley City Council will hold a special meeting this Thursday to further discuss their police department and how to move forward.

The council did also approve setting their preliminary levy at 15% increase. Mayor Fall says that’s not the final number and it very likely will go down, but there are a number of variables still to be determined in the next few months before they can pin down the final levy.

In other news from this week’s meeting, the Twin Valley City Council approved moving forward with an ordinance that would require all liquor establishment to conduct responsible beverage server trainings, approved an EDA loan request for Hunter Pederson of the Wild Rice Insurance Agency, and approved a request from Public Works to update a storage shed.
