Halstad, MN — Two people from Halstad are facing theft charges stemming from an incident back in August 2022. Jessica Renee Hooker, age 32, is being charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property, and Financial Transaction Card Fraud, and William Terrance Marciniak, age 52, is being charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property. All of the charges are felony level crimes.

According to court documents, Hooker and Marciniak both entered a garage and trailer at a residence in which two individuals had just moved into in the city of Halstad on August 16th, 2022 and stole a number of items including Jordan shoes, antique radio, speakers, electronics and video games, camping items, and more. The homeowner came out early that morning and noticed a suspicious vehicle and confronted the individuals after noticing items were missing. Norman County Sheriff Deputies later located a vehicle in a nearby alley way with its trunk open that included some of the items that were stolen. Deputies were able to speak with Hooker, who eventually admitted to taking the items. Upon searching the suspect, they also located credit cards that belonged to someone else and remnants of M30 fentanyl pills.

If convicted, Hooker faces a combined maximum of 18 years in prison and Marciniak faces a combined maximum of 10 years in prison. Their first appearance in court is set for March 15th.
