Fosston, MN — Ukrainian Natasha Bazilevych is thankful for her friends in Fosston and to have escaped her homeland at just the right time. She joined the KKCQ Food for Thought Program this past week to share her story and encourage Americans to continue their support on the war against Russia. Natasha owns a business in the United States and has visited Fosston many times over the years to spend time with friends. She says for the longest time she believed the invasion would never happen but was lucky enough to get out as soon as the threat became imminent.

Fighting for their freedom isn’t anything new for the people of Ukraine. Bazilevych says the people of Ukraine are resilient and will stop at nothing short of Victory over Russia.

Thankfully most of the communication methods are up and running in Ukraine and Natasha is able to communicate with her family on a daily basis. And while the news of the war may not impact everyone in America, Bazilevych asks Americans to continue to share what’s happening and continue to provide to provide financial and emotional support as well.

Natasha was able to get into the US with her travel visa, but is applying for a temporary protected status to allow her for stay for an additional 18 months.
