Voyageurs Conservancy reports strong participation in this year’s Borealis Stargazing Week, held February 9th through the 15th across Minnesota and at Voyageurs National Park.

Kate Fenske says about 700 people attended community stargazing events statewide, with additional programs held in Voyageurs National Park and the Twin Cities.

Those livestream programs reached more than 60-thousand students nationwide, bringing the night skies of Voyageurs to classrooms across the country.
Kate Fenske says Voyageurs National Park continues to attract attention nationwide because of its unique remote setting and access by water and ice.

They say the park’s remote nature and dark skies make it especially appealing during the winter months.

Voyageurs Conservancy is offering two free online programs this spring to help visitors plan trips to Voyageurs National Park.

The first webinar is scheduled for March 5th and provides an overview of visiting the park.

Both programs take place at noon and include information from park staff and gateway communities.

Community Education is offering a new session of Driver’s Training through Falls Driving School next month at Falls High School.
Classes will be held March 12th, 13th, and the 16th through the 20th from 5 to 9 p.m. in Room 201 at Falls High School. The cost is 150 dollars, with checks made payable to ISD 361, and payment is required to reserve a spot.
Students must bring a birth certificate on the first night of class. Anyone who registered and paid for the previously canceled session will automatically be included in this class.
Registration can be completed online or in person at the Community Education office at Falls High School. For more information, call Community Education at 218-283-2571 extension 1186.

Registration is coming up soon for preschool and kindergarten students at Littlefork-Big Falls Schools, with families invited to attend a special open house next week.
Vanessa, the Elementary Secretary, says all preschool and kindergarten students must register, even if they attended previously.

The registration open house will be held March 4th from 5 to 6 p.m., with classrooms open and teachers available to meet families and answer questions.

Students entering kindergarten should bring a birth certificate and updated immunization records if they are not already on file.

School officials say the event is a chance for families to learn more about programs, including free preschool and no fees for activities and sports.
Families interested in enrolling students for the upcoming school year are encouraged to attend the March 4th open house.
