One person is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop in the Rainy River District.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police say officers from the Fort Frances detachment conducted a stop Monday, April 6th, on Highway 11-71. Following an investigation, police determined the driver was impaired.
As a result, 23-year-old CJ Smith of Fort Frances has been charged with operation while impaired, as well as operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police remind the public they remain committed to removing impaired drivers from the road and urge anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 9-1-1 immediately.
