The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families is reminding families about the SUN Bucks program for summer food assistance. Eligible families can receive 120 dollars per child to help buy groceries while school is out for the summer. Most qualifying children are automatically enrolled through programs like SNAP, MFIP, foster care, or free and reduced-price school meals. Benefits are loaded onto a SUN Bucks EBT card and can be used at grocery stores and farmers markets for approved food purchases. Officials say families should use the benefits within 122 days before they expire. More information and eligibility details are available at  Minnesota SUN Bucks Program.

A major carbon capture pipeline project is pulling back from Minnesota, and rural organizers say it offers an important lesson for communities facing large-scale development proposals.
Summit Carbon Solutions announced Minnesota and the Dakotas are no longer part of its current pipeline route, after concerns over landowner rights and environmental impacts sparked opposition across the region.
Advocates with CURE Minnesota say the decision shows why communities should ask tough questions early when companies pitch major projects like carbon pipelines or hyperscale data centers.
The group says while companies often promise jobs and economic growth, residents should make sure environmental protections and community safeguards are clearly spelled out before agreements move forward.
Summit says Minnesota could still be included in future phases, but for now the company is focusing on expanding the project through Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
