Hunting Season Rules and Regulations

With hunting season upon us the DNR has posted the updated regulations for 2026. New rules include hunters that reach a bag limit on deer in a certain Deer Permit Area can move to another DPA and continue hunting provided they are still abiding by statewide hunting limits. Back in 2025 Minnesota eliminated the shot gun zone, but check local areas as they could still restrict certain firearms. Hunters must get permission to go on private and agricultural land as all trespassing law applies to hunting. Trespassing can result in 3,000 dollars in fines and a loss of license. Two exceptions are to retrieve a legally shot animal or to get your hunting dog. Check the DNR website for further details on hunting rules and regulations for 2026.
