(Aitkin, MN) — Despite the recent weather conditions, the Aitkin County Soil & Water Conservation District is going to be picking up activity out in the woods with a handful of projects on tap for the Spring and Summer.
In our recent conversation with SWCD Manager Steve Hughes mentioned their Culvert Inventory Project will be active again in the coming weeks.
The Inventory will open the lines of communication for future culvert projects.
Hughes also talked about Gravel Pit Certification to help mitigate the spread of invasive species.
And of course, open water season is coming which means AIS inspectors will be back at Aitkin County public water accesses.
AIS Inspectors will be at Aitkin County public water accesses the Friday before the fishing opener. Steve Hughes also went on to talk about high and low temperatures and precipitation amounts from 2021, the Rivers and Lakes Fairs on June 18th from the Long Lake Conservation Center and more with our full conversation.
