Transportation Safety Leaders Gather at Capitol
Thursday, March 31st, transportation safety leaders gathered in front of the State Capitol steps to advocate for increased attention and stable investment for transportation infrastructure and safety. In 2021 , the Minnesota Department of Public Safety recorded 502 traffic fatalities, the highest number since 2007, when the state recorded 510 deaths.
House Transportation chair, Rep. Frank Hornstein (horn-steen) (DFL-Mpls), spoke at the gathering.
502 traffic cones were placed on the Capitol steps – one for each Minnesotan who died on roadways in 2021.
