Ada-Borup-West School Board News & Notes fro April 12th Meeting
Ada, MN — The Ada-Borup-West School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday morning where it was announced that board chair Mick Thompson would be stepping down after many years of service to the board. Ada-Borup-West Superintendent Aaron Cook says the timing was right was right for Mick, who wanted to focus his efforts on other matters.
With Thompson stepping down, Gretchen Rockstad was elected as the new board chair, Peter Jacobson will serve as Vice Chair, Jana Engel appointed Treasurer and Nancy Merkens will remain as Clerk.
Also during this week’s meeting, Superintendent Cook provided an update on some of the things being worked on at the capitol. As far as education goes, he notes that the House and Senate seem to have differing opinions.
Superintendent Cook also reported back to the board on updated health insurance costs. He notes that there will be a significant cost increase coming.
And the Ada-Borup-West School is looking to expand their summer programming this year and will be surveying families to see what their interests and needs are, according to Cook.
The Ada-Borup-West School Board also approved hiring Alayna Wagner as a Title 1 Teacher and Heidi Knutson as a Speech Language Pathologist.
