Akeley man killed in motorcycle, trailer incident on Highway 371

(Nisswa, MN) — A 26-year-old Akeley man was killed Saturday after striking a boat trailer while driving his Harley Davidson in the Nisswa area.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Alex Nelson of Akeley was driving his 2007 Harley Davidson Cruiser southbound on Highway 371 approaching Nashway Road. A 2007 Jeep Commander was eastbound on Nashway Road with a boat on a trailer and was attempting to cross Highway 371. The Jeep pulled out into the path of motorcycle Nelson struck the boat that was being towed.
Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep Commander, George Lentsch, age 62 of St. Paul, suffered no injuries and was wearing his seatbelt.
The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by Nisswa Police Department and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.
