Four Times the Legal Limit, Norman County Man Charged with DUI
Halstad, MN — A Norman County man was arrested last week for DUI after reportedly having a Blood Alcohol Content of more than four times the legal limit. The Minnesota State Patrol and Norman County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly after 6pm on December 14th to the report of person slumped over the steering wheel and parked on the wrong side of a gravel road on 110th St near Halstad.
Upon arrival, officers noticed the individual, later identified as Cole William Anderson, age 28 of Ada, passed out in the driver’s seat with a nearly empty bottle Fireball on the passenger seat. Officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the defendant. The individual struggled to get his ID out of his wallet when asked for identification and eventually just handed the entire wallet to the officer. When asked how much he had to drink, Anderson stated, “not enough” and then proceeded to grab the bottle of Fireball. He struggled to maintain his balance when getting out of the vehicle and repeatedly had to use the squad car to maintain balance during the field sobriety test.
The officer from the Minnesota State Patrol conducted a preliminary breath test, in which Anderson blew a 0.366. The legal limit to drive is 0.08. Anderson has prior DUI convictions, along with a lengthy list of assault, theft, and other charges. He was charged with 2nd Degree DUI and Possession of an Open Bottle.
