Waubun School Forest Providing Unique Educational Experience for More Students
Waubun, MN — It’s like a field trip every day for the students at the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth elementary school that get the opportunity to utilize the Waubun School Forest as part of their normal instruction time. Located roughly 9 miles east of Waubun, the school forest currently provides daily instruction to various grade levels as a way to get them out of the traditional classroom and closer to nature and the subjects that they are learning about. Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Principal Tim Spaeth talks about the instruction provided at the school forest.
Principal Spaeth says they’ve been expanding their educational opportunities at the School Forest because its proving as an effective educational tool.
The Waubun School District recently added two indoor classrooms, an outdoor classroom, storage shed, and DNR bathrooms for the multi-use facility, which also offers skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding opportunities for the public.
