Aitkin grad injured in head-on crash in Swift County
A young Palisade woman was seriously injured in a car crash last Thursday. Sarah Jean Curtiss, a 2019 Aitkin High graduate and current University of Minnesota-Morris senior, was driving southbound on Highway 9 in Swift county when she collided with a car and a semi headed northbound.
According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, all parties involved were wearing seatbelts. Roads were listed as snow and ice covered. Curtiss was the only injured party, with what are described as extensive but non-life threatening injuries. Her injuries included many broken bones and a collapsed lung. Her mother Gloria Curtiss reported that her daughter had been moved to the Intensive Care Unit and intubated to help clear her lungs. A GoFundMe account set up in Curtiss’ name by her roommates for her on-going recovery had raised over $28,000 of a $30,000 goal as of Tuesday night.
