Wild Rice Electric Provides Power Line Safety Reminders During Farm Safety & Wellness Seminar
Ada, MN — Dozens of folks took part in the Farm Safety and Wellness seminar on Wednesday at the Ada Events Center, which included safety demonstrations, resources, and special guest speakers. Among those was Tommy Houdek, Member Services and Communications Director for Wild Rice Electric, who provided demonstrations and information about the dangers of power lines. Houdek says with large equipment and the hustle and bustle of planting and harvesting, its important farmers are always taking power lines into consideration with everything they do.
In the event your equipment does get caught in the power lines, Houdek says it’s imperative that in almost all situations you stay seated and don’t get out.
Houdek also provided some information on what causes residents to lose power and the process of getting it restored. While he understands that we all rely heavily on electricity for everything we do, their crews also need to be patient and take their safety seriously as well.
And Houdek says there were also a lot of questions as to where their power comes from.
Also presenting at the Farm Safety and Wellness Seminar was West Central Ag Services, who discussed grain bin and chemical safety, and RDO, who discussed tractor safety. The event was sponsored by REACH, RDO, and the Minnesota Department of Ag.
