Minnesota DNR reminds waterfowl hunters to watch for wild ricers during early teal season
The Minnesota DNR wants to remind teal hunters that they need to be aware and cautious of wild rice harvesters with wild rice ripening during the teal hunting season.
The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe reservation has special state regulations in place that prohibit the hunters from hunting within one half mile of posted wild rice beds open to harvest within the boundaries of the Leech Lake reservation.
The Minnesota DNR advises all waterfowl hunters who plan to hunt within the boundaries of the Leech Lake or White Earth reservations to contact the appropriate natural resource department for more information regarding the teal season and wild rice harvest safety.
