Ada-Borup-West School Board News & Notes from July 14th
Ada, MN — The Ada-Borup-West School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Thursday morning this week. At the meeting, the board went ahead with purchasing a “stock” bus in order to ensure that they aren’t shorthanded with transportation this fall. Ada-Borup-West Superintendent Aaron Cook says the bus they previously ordered won’t be delivered until next year.
A big change for families this year is that they are no longer able to offer free breakfast and lunch for all students. Superintendent Cook encourages families to fill out a free and reduced lunch application if they need assistance.
Not only are meals no longer free, but the costs of them are also going up this year. Cook says their food service costs have risen dramatically over the past couple years and as a result the district has had to increase the meal fees.
And staffing wise, the Ada-Borup-West School is still looking to hire for a few positions before this fall, but they did approve hiring a new Social Studies Teacher, according to Cook.
The Ada-Borup-West School Board also approved the fall coaches, approved the long-term facilities maintenance plan, and set the annual rates and fees for the upcoming school year.
