Ada, MN — The Ada City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, July 12th at Council Chambers. A lengthy discussion was had at the meeting regarding turnout gear for the Fire Department. There council had budgeted $16,000 for turnout gear for the fire department, but Ada Fire Chief Steve Petry was hoping to use roughly $4000 of that for a battery powered fan. The council voted down the request 3-2 with the Mayor being the tiebreaker who then urged the Chief to use that budgeted amount for its intended purposed, according to Ada City Administrator Ashley Larson.

Administrator Larson also added with rising inflation and costs of fuel and materials, it was stressed the need for department heads to stick to their budgets this year.

The Ada City Council also sold two more housing lots at the meeting. Following some back and forth, the council agreed to sell a lot in the Tower Addition to Mike Myers and the final lot in the Rage Addition to Nicholas Chisholm.

And under her Administrator report, Larson noted that they are struggling to find staff at the Dekko Center as well as filling the police officer position.

The Ada City Council also approved a donation request from the FM Legion Riders and moved their August meeting back a day to August 3rd due to National Night Out.

Councilmembers Mike Nelson and Kim Lewis are scheduled to join the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program this Thursday at 9am to further recap this week’s meeting.
