(Aitkin, MN) — Aitkin County CARE has been an instrumental part of creating and accessing food for their clients and community members through a Community Garden in Hill City and remodeling of the Aitkin Community Food Shelf.

In our monthly conversation with CARE Executive Director Lynne Jacobs, the Hill City Community Garden is nearing completion for locals to grow their own vegetables.

Spots are still open through applications through the City of Hill City.

CARE is also helping the Aitkin Community Food Shelf become more of an immersive experience by making it a “Super Shelf”.

Visitors to the Aitkin Community Super Shelf will have the chance to pick their own foods and even healthier options.

Aitkin County Executive Director Lynne Jacobs went on to talk about Market Share and Veggie Share Boxes through the Aitkin Farmer’s Market and their Music in the Park event set for the end of July with our full conversation that can be found at www.rjbroadcasting.com.
