Ada City Council Promotes Steve Hager to Police Chief
Ada, MN — The Ada City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, October 4th where they approved new police department hires, negotiated a new Main Street Bar lease, and approved a pair of donations.
Interim Police Chief Steve Hager will soon become the full-time Police Chief for the City of Ada following the council’s approval of his promotion on Tuesday night, but contract details still need to be finalized. Ada Mayor John Hintz says the council also moved forward with hiring another full-time officer as well.
The Ada City Council also discussed and approved a new lease agreement with the Main Street Bar, which operates out of the city owned Ada Events Center. Mayor Hintz says they agreed to another 3-year lease with the same rental rate but raised the utilities from $500 to $700 a month to help cover increasing utility costs.
And the council heard presentations from Payton Eggen of the Ada-Borup-West Trap Team and Solveig Kitchell of the Norman County Historical Society, who both pitched their requests for donations. Hintz says the council approved those requests, which will come out of the city’s gambling funds that are designated for community projects.
The Ada City Council also agreed to move next month’s meeting from November 8th to November 9th due to the election.
Councilmembers Shawn Roux and Casey Krieger are scheduled to join the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program to further recap this week’s meeting.
