(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council meeting from July 18th featured talks on filing for candidacy for 2 City Council seats, discussion on cameras at the City Park, and updates from the Street Department on inspections and designations.

City Administrator Mike Skrbich presented the public notice to file for candidacy for the Aitkin City Council.

Skrbich also updated the Council on the roof project for the Aitkin Police Station.

Aitkin Police Chief Paul Ryan spoke before the Council on the City Park’s camera and their troubles in identifying those causing vandalism.

Lon Nicko presented to the Council on needed updates to City sidewalks and upcoming inspections.

The Council also moved forward with painted curbs of No Parking Designations along 4th Street NW in the driveway of Hometown Lumber. Approval was also given for the Personnel Committee’s recommendation of the 6-month probationary review and a wage increase of City Administrator Mike Skribich. Council member Jason Henke called a special meeting concerning the review. 

Skrbich added to the agenda an offer on a city-owned property.

The Council approved the offer of $35,000 for the property as is.

The Aitkin City Council is next scheduled to meet on Monday, August 1st at 6pm from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
