Alluma Hosting Mental Health Community Conversation in Fertile this Sunday

Fertile, MN — Alluma, a Crookston based nonprofit providing mental health services to Northwest Minnesota for the past 60 years, is inviting all area communities to join the for a free community discussion called “Creating a Caring Community: Helping the Hurting” this Sunday, June 5th at Fertile Community Center. The goal of the discussion to increase awareness and knowledge of risks, warning signs, and local resources for suicide awareness and other mental health issues. This event is the first of many community outreach events that Alluma hopes to do in the future as a way to get out into the areas they serve and have the important conversations about mental health, according to Alluma Communications Coordinator Michelle Adolphsen.

This Sunday’s discussion in Fertile will feature a meal at 5pm provided by the Fertile Community Club followed by panel discussion.  Panel members include:

– Kurt Ellefson, Veterans Service Officer
– Reverend Kelly Ahola
– Caidyn Johnson, PCPH Youth Advisory Board
– Tim Denney, Crisis Text Line Coordinator
– Rachel Winter, Alluma Mental Health Professional
– Amy Bartz, Alluma Youth & Family Services Director
– Valerie Wagner, Alluma Mental Health Professional

The event is sponsored by the City of Fertile, Fertile Community Club, Fertile Library, Fertile-Beltrami School, Polk County Public Health, Alluma, and the HOPE Coalition.
