American Crystal Wraps Up Very Successful 2022 Sugarbeet Campaign Potentially Record Harvest

Hillsboro, ND — The American Crystal Sugarbeet campaign officially wrapped on Sunday, bringing in a record 12.1 million tons of excellent quality sugar beets that will now make its way to the factories for processing. Joe Hastings, General Agronomist with American Crystal Sugar, says they averaged around 26 tons an acre and a sugar content of over 18%. With those numbers he considers the 2022 harvest to be a great success.

While there were some shutdowns for heat and for frost during the course of the past three weeks, rain was almost nonexistent, which Hastings says made for a very efficient harvest for producers.

And just as producers are cleaning up the beet equipment and putting it away for the year, Hastings says it’s time to start planning for next year’s crop.

Hastings adds that it takes great people doing great things to complete what is one of the largest mass-movements of any crop in the world at one time and he thanks the producers and harvest workers for making it another successful harvest.
