Baxter City Council supports overpass for 371/210 Intersection

The busiest intersection in northern Minnesota is the 371/210 intersection in Baxter, according to a study done by Crow Wing County and MNDoT in 2022. That may change, at least regarding how the intersection is accessed. This month, the Baxter City Council presented support for an overpass in that location. The proposed overpass would also go over the rail line at that location.

Two types of proposed solutions were a quadrant interchange or a diverging diamond interchange. Both scenarios connect Elder Drive, used to reach retail areas  and medical service areas. Elder Drive has been a source of concern from crashes and fatalities An award of Funding potentially awarded from the Corridors of Commerce program would be used to help the construction of the intersection and overpass of the railroad tracks.  The preliminary schedule projects construction beginning in 2026.
