Fertile City Council News & Notes from December 12th Meeting
Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council held their final regular monthly meeting of the 2022 year on Monday night, December 12th where they set the final levy, approved water and sewer rate increases, and more. Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden says their water fund is doing ok now, but there are a number of maintenance projects on the horizon, hence the need for the rate increase that will take effect in the new year.
While the water and sewer rates are going up, the levy increase for next year will be minimal. Liden says they set the levy for 2023 at just a 2% increase.
The Fertile City Council also agreed to promote City Clerk Stacey Erickson to Deputy Administrator, which Liden says will allow her to do some of her responsibilities if she isn’t available.
And the council finalized a contract with Mutchler Bartram Architects out of Fargo, who will be heading up the renovations to the Fertile Community Center which will get underway this coming spring.
The Fertile City Council also accepted the donation of the Mayor Dan Wilken’s salary to be used for various community projects, approved 2023 tobacco licenses, and agreed to hire staff to oversee winter activities at the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center.
