Fertile vs Leiting Update

R&J News continues to go over court documents in the legal action between former Fair Meadow Nursing Home administrator Angie Leiting and the City of Fertile.  Leiting resigned under fire in June 2023 as administrator of the city-owned nursing home.  According to court documents, Fertile Mayor Dan Wilkens began questioning Fair Meadow’s operations since he assumed office as mayor in 2017….and showed “demeaning and humiliating treatment toward (Leiting) and telling her she “wasn’t strong enough for her job” and she was “red-faced all the time..”  And at a closed special Fertile City Council meeting in January 2023 Wilkens said “If Angie was gone, that problem would go.”  Wilkens also referred to Fair Meadow Nursing Home as “The Good ‘Ole Girls Club.”  A hearing on this case is scheduled for February 23 in Polk County Court in Crookston.
