Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their first regular monthly meeting for the month of October on Monday night at the Main Street Community Center.  During his report, Commission President Levi Reese reported that while the city of Hillsboro is not in financial crisis, revenue coming into the city is much less than that going out. He says the commission is going to have to look at ways of either generating more revenue or cutting costs.

The Hillsboro City Commission did approve the 2023 budget at this week’s meeting as well. Financial information should be posted on the city website sometime soon.

There was some good news at the meeting regarding railroad park. After months of back and forth, President Reese stated the BNSF has finally agreed to lease the city the park at no cost with some stipulations.

And the commission discussed a request from a pair of homeowners to extend water and sewer hookups to their property. Reese says they commission voted not to do so free of charge like they sometimes have in the past, but they will provide some assistance.
