Ada, MN — The 4th of July weekend is a busy one for the local liquor stores as folks stock up on beer and liquor on their way to the lakes and backyard celebrations. Some of those cases of beer will once again have an important reminder for adults this weekend: Don’t buy alcohol for minors! The Impact Coalition of Norman and Mahnomen County once again is doing their Sticker Shock Campaign to reminds folks to keep alcohol out of the hands of our youth, according to Kelsey Merkens of the Impact Coalition.

Along with moral and ethical reasons, Merkens reminds adults over 21 there are legal implications on the line too for supplying a minor.

Merkens also notes that there are reasons why the drinking age is 21.

The mission of the Impact Coalition is to build safe and healthy communities in Norman and Mahnomen Counties by reducing substance use among youth and over time reducing substance misuse among adults.
