The Koochiching County Board of Commissioners meets this morning at 9:30 in the Historic Courthouse courtroom. Commissioners will set the preliminary 2026 tax levy — proposed at just over $8.3 million, up nearly nine percent — and consider raising the annual solid waste fee from $70 to $85. Other agenda items include updates to the county ATV ordinance, a new disposal agreement, and a resolution supporting the Ash River sewer project. The public is welcome to attend in person or online.

Vaccines will be available for both adults and children, with most insurance accepted. Officials say getting a flu shot early helps reduce the spread as cooler weather arrives.
