Lakes Area Music Festival to present 3 concerts at Gichi-Zibi Center in March

(Brainerd, MN) — The Lakes Area Music Festival will present 3 different concerts as part of their Winter Series into the month of March at the Gichi-Zibi Center for the Arts in Brainerd all being performed by award-winning cellist Gabriel Martens and a cycle of additional performances with pianist Audrey Vardanega.

Concerts will take place March 1st, 4th, and 6th of complete works for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, with additional pieces by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelsson, and Johannes Brahms. 

Tuesday, March 1st, the duo will present two sonatas and a set of variations from the early years of Beethoven’s career alongside Schubert’s “Arpeggione” Sonata.

Friday, March 4th will have the third sonaa from his middle period, as well as Mendelssohn’s second sonata and Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces.

Sunday, March 6th will be a 2pm matinee and will bring a cycle to a close with his 4th and 5th sonatas, as well as Brahm’s second sonata.Tickets may be reserved online through the Lakes Area Music Festival website with a suggestion donation $20.
