The United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is gearing up for its annual Day of Action in Chisholm—and they’re looking for both project nominations and volunteers.
The event takes place June 26th, with sign-up and project requests open now through May 1st.
Day of Action brings community members together to help with a wide range of outdoor and home improvement projects. That includes gardening and landscaping, tree and shrub trimming, mowing and raking, garbage cleanup, gutter cleaning, window washing, painting, exterior repairs, and accessibility modifications.
It’s all about lending a hand where it’s needed most and making a direct impact in the community. To nominate a project or sign up to volunteer, visit unitedwaynemn.org/dayofaction.

A free online event is coming up to help veterans better understand their rights and benefits.
Disabled U.S. Air Force veteran and attorney Benjamin Krause will host a public webinar April 10th at noon, focusing on new updates from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.
The changes center around the state’s updated Veterans Benefits Disclosure form, designed to strengthen consumer protections and crack down on companies charging unlawful fees.
The new policy also clarifies who is legally allowed to assist veterans with claims, and when fees can be charged under federal law.
Krause says the goal is simple—make sure veterans understand who they can trust and how to protect themselves. The free webinar will also cover how to report fraud and ensure veterans fully understand their options when filing claims. Veterans can register now and find more information at DisabledVeterans.org.

Local students are hard at work preparing for a big night this spring, as the Littlefork-Big Falls prom committee gets ready for their 2026 prom.
This year’s theme brings a bit of glitz and glamour.

The LBF Prom Committee say the “Vegas” theme will transform the school into a high-energy celebration when prom takes place April 25th at the high school.
Planning has kept the junior class busy, with teamwork being one of the biggest challenges.

Students say they’re now focused on final details, including decorations, food, and post-prom activities.

The night will include a full school celebration after the dance, with games, movies, and activities for students.
And after months of planning, organizers say they’re most excited to see it all come together.

Prom is set for April 25th, with students and the community coming together to make it a memorable night.
